I refer to our earlier Circular No.71/12
dated 9th March, 2005 on the above subject. A few queries
have been raised and clarifications sought by some Lodges.
These have been referred to the Protocol
Committee and their remarks are noted below for the
guidance of all Lodges.
1. Where the meetings are held at regular
Lodge Temples, the flag need not be lowered after every
meeting. Care should however be taken to ensure that
the flag does not get dirty. Proper respect should be
given to it all times. Lodges meeting at other places
such as Hotels/ Convention Halls etc. should lower the
flag after every meeting as suggested earlier.
2. The flag can be flown on. a mast
head and no other flag/ flags may be flown from the
same mast head.
3. The flag may also be displayed flat
or horizontal on the wall. The saffron band should be
upper most and when displaying vertically the saffron
band shall be on the right with the reference of the
flag i.e. left to the person facing the flag.
4. As mentioned in the earlier circular,
the flag shall be displayed on the NorthEast corner
of the Lodge i.e. on the right of the Worshipful Master.
I request all Lodges to take note of
this and ensure compliance.
With greetings,
