It observed that often Lodges as well
as individual brethren address letters dV-ectly to M.W.the
Grand Master, inspite of i.llstructions issued in this
regard i.'l the past. This is not keeping with the protocol
prescribed in this regard vide Rule 16 of the Book of
Constitutions, which mentions that "no communication
on any Masonic matter shall be made to the Grand Master,
except through the Grand Secretary".
Apart from the position as stated above,
it is observed that Lodges and Brethren also address
communications direct to M.W.the Grand Master and to
the Grand Lodge, on matters which concern the internal
working of their Lodges or which have referenes to individual
Members of Lodges who are also often named in such communications.
Letters are also some times addressed
on such matters to the Regional Grand Master/Regional
Grand Secretary with copy to M.W.the..Grand Master/or
the Grand Secretary.
M.W.the Grand Master has directed me
to inform all concerned that all such matters relating
to the internal working of the Lodges or which concerns
individual Members of Lodges, should in the fIrst instance
be referred to and dealt with at the Regional level
either by the ARGM's concerned or the Lodge in charges,
at the local level and if still unresolved or if so
required referred to the Regional Grand Lodge for consideration
by the Regional Grand Secretary/Regional Grand Master.
No useful purpose will therefore be served in addressing
such letters to M.W.the Grand Master and/or .the Grand
Lodge/Grand Secretary, or by endorsing copies of such
communications addressed to the Regional Grand Lodge
to M.W.the Grand Master and/or the Grand Lodge/Grand
Secretary.
No doubt if any such matter concerns
matters of policy or interpretation of the provisions
of the Book of Constitutions requiring directions from
the Grand Lodge, suitable communication in this regard
giving all facts and details could be addressed by the
Regional Grand Lodge concerned to the Grand Secretary.
Even otherwise, if on any matter any Lodge or Brethren
wish to communicate with M.W.the Grand Master and/or
the Grand Lodge all such references should preferably
be routed through the Regional Grand Lodge or be addressed
to the Grand Secretary, Gralld Lodge of India, who will
take action as considered appropriate, in consultation
with M.W.the Grand Master, where
necessary.
It is requested that this communication
be read in the Open Lodge, so that the correct position
regarding the protocol to be followed in addressing
communications to M.W.the Grand Master is brought to
the notice of all concerned.
With greetings,
