The Procedure and Protocol Committee
constituted by the Board of General Purposes of the
Grand Lodge of India had recently occasion to review
the various Rituals from the point of view in ensuring
Uniformity in the Rituals as far as possible. One of
the aspects considered in this connection was the prayers
included in the various Rituals. It was observed that
there is no uniformity in procedure of responding to
the Prayer with the word So Mote it Be.
In some cases the words to be spoken by specified official,
while in some other cases all present had to respond
with the words So Mote it Be. In order to
ensure uniformity in this regard it has been decided
that at the end of all prayers as included in the Rituals
all present will respond with the words So Mote
it Be. However in order to enable all present
to so respond at the end of each prayer, it has been
also been decided that the wordAmen may
also be included as part of the prayer at the end of
each prayer so that all present may know that the prayer
has ended and it is time for them to respond with the
words So Mote It Be. It is requested that
this circular may be read by all the Craft/Mark/RAM
Lodges and in the Chapters, so that an uniform procedure
in this regard is followed by all concerned.
It is also requested that the Senior
Officers of the Regional Grand Lodges visiting the Lodges/Chapters,
as well as those incharge of such Lodges/Chapters may
bring this to the notice of all concerned during their
visits to the Lodges/Chapters, to ensure that this practice
is followed by the Lodges/Chapters, in future.
With greetings,
