A scheme called The Grand Master's
Rupee Club was established in 1999. The premise on which
the scheme was based is as follows:-
If M. W. the Grand Master were to knock
at the door of a brother and asked for contribution
to charity, he would certainly have given at least One
Rupee as his contribution. If M. W. the Grand Master
knocked at his door the next day he would surely not
hesitate to give another Rupee for a charitable cause.
Therefore, if M. W. the Grand Master called on every
brother in the country on each ofthe 365 days of a year,
he was sure to collect RS.365 from each one of them.
It was therefore proposed that a scheme of Grand Master's
Rupee Club may be started to which every brother in
the country may contribute RS.365 p.a. @ RS.1 per day,
for a calendar year in one lump sum.
The funds so collected in the Grand
Master's Rupee Club is intended to provide immediate
relief to deserving causes at the discretion of M. W.
the Grand Master up to a maximum of Rs.1 lakh per occasion.
The Grand Master's Rupee Club also provides that a brother
may become a Life Member of the Club by making a one
time lump sum payment ofRs.4000/-.
The Scheme has been in operation for
about 10 years now. It is quite possible that many new
brethren who have joined Freemasonry more recently may
not be aware of the Scheme and its laudable purpose.
Some of the brethren who had become members earlier
may not also have continued their contribution, year
after year.
Charity is the pre-dominant characteristic
of every Freemason's heart. This communication is therefore
intended to be a reminder and a fervent fresh appeal
to every brother in every Lodge in the country to become
a member of the Grand Master's Rupee Club by contributing
RS.365 p.a. or becoming a Life Member by paying Rs.4000
as a one time lump sum payment. The Grand Master's Rupee
Club is now an independent trust with Income Tax benefit
under 80-G.
Worshipful Masters and Secretaries
of Lodges are requested to bring this circular to the
notice of the Members of their Lodges and encourage
everyone of the members of their Lodges to subscribe
to Grand Master's Rupee Club by contributing Rs.365
p.a. or Rs.4000/- as a lump sum, if they are not already
Members/ Life Members ofthe club. It is suggested that
an easy way of every brother remembering to become a
Member of the Rupee Club would be to do so on their
birth days or the birth days of their near & dear
ones. (Non Masons including Ladies are also eligible
to become Members) Individual contributions may be made
by cheque or Demand Draft payable to "Grand Master's
Rupee Club". If found convenient Lodges may collect
the Annual/Life Membership from the members and remit
the consolidated amount to the Grand Master's Rupee
Club along with the list of the members.
It is proposed-.1O give an attractiv£_commemorati:v..e_badge_to.JIlemhers
of the Club, hath for the individual subscribers as
well as to those who are Life Members, which they will
be entitled to wear at Masonic events and functions.
Looking forward to a favourable and
overwhelming response from all the brethren and with
greetings.
With greetings,
