In connection with the celebration
of the Golden Jubilee of the Grand Lodge of India due
in November 201112012 it is proposed to identify the
First Initiate of the Grand Lodge of India, after its
fonnation on 24th November 1961. Such an initiate may
belong to anyone ofthe Lodges 1 to 145 who opted to
come over to the Grand Lodge of India on its formation
in November 1961 or to Lodge Shanthi No. 146 which was
the first Lodge to be consecrated on 9th December 1961
after the formation of the Grand Lodge of India. It
is also in any case proposed to identify the First Initiate
and first Worshipful Master of Lodge Shanthi No. 146
which was the first Lodge to be consecrated after the
fonnation of the Grand Lodge of India. All the above
mentioned Lodges are therefore requested to go through
their records and fumish us the infonnation as soon
as possible.
It is also proposed to identify theJ'!living
"Original Members" of the Grand Lodge of India
i.e. those who were initiated on or before 24th November
1961 and belong to Lodges which opted to come over to
the Grand Lodge of India and who were conferred Original
Membership Certificate and Medallion. These will obviously
be those who have already completed 50 years as Freemasons
and those who have completed 47 years as Freemasons
as at the end of 2008. Lodges are requested to compile
the list of such brethren with details of their date
of Initiation, Passing and Raising, date of becoming
W.M.'s & current Grand/Regional Ranks and forward
the same to the Grand Lodge of India as soon as possible.
