As Lodges are aware the Grand Lodge of India has been appealing to the Members from time to time for enrolling themselves as Members of the Grand Master’s Rupee Club and for subscribing to the Grand Lodge of India quarterly magazine Square & Compasses. M.W. the Grand Master has also been making such appeals in his address to the Members in various Regional Meetings and has also been sending e-mails in this regard.
It is observed that while members are eager and willing to subscribe to the Grand Master’s Rupee Club and to the Square & Compasses, there is no ready procedure by which receipts could be issued to them on the spot and the money/cheque so collected could be forwarded to the Grand Lodge. It has therefore been decided that each Lodge would be issued a Receipt Book for the Grand Master’s Rupee Club and for Subscription to the Square & Compasses containing 50 receipts each. As may be seen from the Receipt Books enclosed, each Receipt has three counter foils. The first counter foil is meant for the Member/Subscriber and is to be handed over to him with the signature of the Secretary/Treasurer of the Lodge. The 2nd counter foil is meant for the Grand Lodge and is to be sent along with the cheque to the Grand Lodge for further action. The 3rd counter foil is office copy of the Lodge.
In case cash is received, these may be pooled together and sent by way of consolidated draft or by consolidated cheque of the Lodge from time to time after the cash received from the individual Members is credited to the Lodge Account. The idea behind sending the Receipt Books to the Lodge is to ensure on the spot collection during the course of the meeting day of the Lodge and issue of receipts to the Members/Subscribers. As and when the Receipt Book is exhausted, requisition may be sent for fresh Receipt Books for similar action.
M.W. the Grand Master expects that with this simplified procedure for collection of Membership/Subscription for the Grand Master’s Rupee Club and the Square & Compasses, there will be a good response from the Members of the Lodges all over the country. W.M. of Lodges may ensure announcing the availability of the Receipt Books with the Secretary at every meeting of the Lodge and request Members to enroll themselves. At the same time Secretaries/Treasurers of Lodges must ensure collection & issue of receipts to the Members who respond and make their contribution. We look forward to the active cooperation of the Lodges in enrolling their Members for the Grand Master’s Rupee Club and the Square & Compasses.
