Sub: Re-establishment of amity with the Grand Lodge of Scotland.

I am happy to inform you that by an agreement entered into by the Grand Lodge of India and the Grand Lodge of Scotland, the historic relationship between the two Grand Lodges has been re-established.

With this, the three parent Grand Lodges namely the United Grand Lodge of England, the Grand Lodge of Scotland and the Grand Lodge of Ireland have all resumed amicable relationship with the Grand Lodge of India.

The nature of the agreements entered into and the effect thereof are tabulated below for the information and guidance of brethren and Lodges.

3. Consecration of new Lodges

United Grand Lodge of England will not consecrate Lodges in India without express agreement Grand Lodge of India.

The United Grand Lodge of England may however change the location of any of its Lodges in India.

United Grand Lodge of Scotland will not consecrate Lodges in India without express agreement Grand Lodge of India.

The Grand Lodge of Scotland may however change the location of any of its Lodges in India.

United Grand Lodge of Ireland will not consecrate Lodges in India without express agreement Grand Lodge of India.

The Grand Lodge of Ireland may however change the location of any of its Lodges in India.

4. Membership

a. Any Brother who was a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the United Grand Lodge England and of a Lodge or Lodges under the GraM Lodge of India on 31st July, 1992 will be permittecl to apply for membership of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India within 12 months of restoration of amity i.e. on or before 11.12.2003 and, if he is elected and joins such a Lodge(s) he may still retain his membership of his Lodge(s) under the United Grand Lodge of England.

a. Any Brother who was a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge Scotland and of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India on 6th May, 1993 will be entitled to apply [{)r membership of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India within 12 months of restoration of amity i.e. on or before 10.06.05 and, if he is elected and joins such a Lodge(s) he may still retain his membership of his Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of Scotland.

a. Any Brother who was a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Ireland and of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India on 31st July, 1992 will be entitled to apply for membership of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India within 12 months of restoration of amity i.e. on or before 26.08.04 and, if he is elected and joins such a Lodge(s) he may still retain his membership of his Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of Ireland.

 

b. Any Brother who on 31st July, 1992 was a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India and also a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the United Grand Lodge England will be permitted to apply within 12 months of the restoration of amity i.e. on or before 11.12.2003 for membership of a Lodge or Lodges under the United Grand Lodge England and if elected and joins such a Lodge(s), he may still retain his membership of his Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India.

b. Any Brother who on 6th May, 1993 was a member of Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India and also a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Scotland will be entitled to apply within 12 months of the restoration of amity i.e on or before 10.06.05 for membership of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Scotland and if he is elected and joins such a Lodge(s), he may still retain his membership of his Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India.

b. Any Brother who on 31st July, 1992 was a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of India and also a member of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Ireland will be entitled to apply within 12 months of the restoration of amity i.e.
26.08.04 for membership of a Lodge or Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Ireland and if he is elected and joins such a Lodge(s), he may still retain his membership of his Lodge(s) under the under the Grand Lodge of India.

 

c. Other members of Grand Lodge of India will not be permitted to join Lodges meeting in India under the United Grand Lodge England without first resigning from Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India.

Similarly other brethren who are members of a Lodge or Lodges in India under the United Grand Lodge of England desiring to join Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India will first have to resign from such Lodge(s) under the United Grand Lodge of England.

c. Other members of Grand Lodge of India will not be permitted to join Lodges meeting in India under the Grand Lodge of Scotland without first resigning from Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India.

Similarly any other brother who is a member of a wdge or Lodges in India under the Grand Lodge of Scotland desiring to join Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India will first have to resign from such Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of Scotland.

c. Other members of Grand Lodge of India will not bc permitted to join Lodges meeting in India under the Grand Lodge of Ireland without first resigning from Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India.

Similarly any other brother who is a member of a Lodge or Lodges in India under the Grand Lodge of Ireland desiring to join Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of India will first have to resign from such Lodge(s) under the Grand Lodge of Ireland.

5. Recognition

United Grand Lodge of England wiil not recognize any other Grand Lodge in India not recognized by Grand Lodge of India.

Grand Lodge will of Scotland not recognize any other Grand Lodge in India not recognized by Grand Lodge of India.

Grand Lodge of Ireland will not recognize any other Grand Lodge in India not recognized by Grand Lodge of India.

6. Inter Visitation

Inter visitation between Lodges of the two jurisdictions can take place in accordance with usual rules and customs attached thereto.
