As you are aware, natures fury
has caused intense damage to lives and properties in
Southern India. While thousands have been killed, many
more have been rendered homeless and bereft of all material
possessions.
The fraternity of Freemasons under
the Grand Lodge of India cannot be insensitive to the
need of the hour, consequent to this calamity.
M.W. the Grand Master has proposed
that the entire fraternity should join hands and contribute
substantially towards the rehabilitation of the families
who have suffered due to this calamity.
It is therefore proposed to collect
contributions from individual members and also from
Lodges, Chapters and Mark lodges. These, alongwith contributions
from the four Regional Grand Lodges and the Grand Lodge
of India could be consolidated and utilized for the
rehabilitation of atleast a part of the 40,000 and more
families who have had to face the brunt of this calamity.
I appeal to all the Brethren, Companions,
Lodges, Chapters and Mark Lodges to rise to the occasion
and contribute liberally for this cause.
