Masonry has been defined in more ways
than one; as a peculiar system of morality, which will
enable the devoted among its adherent brethren to ascend
the theological ladder from the Lodge on Earth to the
LODGE IN HEAVEN ; as a peculiar science veiled in allegory
and illustrated by Symbols, which strives after the
search of the Divine Truth ; as the veiled expression
of spiritual life, etc. Hardly are more definitions
necessary to amply illustrate with unmistakable emphasis
and clarity that Masonry is not 'an-evening' - 'every-month'
social event with creature comforts thrown in for good
measure, but IS in the fewest of words a very serious
and concerted effort TO KNOW ONE SELF by practicing
with deep concentration the concise set procedure, followed
by intense individual study to reach the underlying
ocean of illuminating knowledge, fathoms below the surface.
Most ardous study is a pre-requisite for advancement
in this direction of the greatest of LEARNING, aptly
referred to by Lord Tennyson.
" AND ONE FAR-OFF DIVINE EVENT
TO WHICH THE WHOLE CREATION MOVES".
In the progress of this glorious search
of the great goal, the assidous Brethren daily elevate
and ennoble themselves so distinctively as to be noticed
as exemplars by society.
Such impressions, spontaneously created
at the different centres by Masons constitute the Masonic
Appeal irresistibly felt by non-masons, particularly
the youth, who will be attracted to our fold. Our character,
to methods in which we practice our professions keeping
the Masonic precepts to the fore, the interests Masons
take in and their concern and affection for each other
will forcefully appeal to the non-masonic fraternity.
While the making of a good Mason is a life long process,
a Mason-in-the-making throws a noticeable glow, as long
as he cultivates the high principle Masonry and develops
a loftiness of mind. The character of a Mason determined
not only by the society he is a member o, but by the
id that control his life, the affection that rules his
heart and the thought that guide is daily conducted
and actions.
As observed earlier the making of a
Mason is tough long process so all ardent devotees can
be said to be on the high way of this g journey to self-improvement
REMEMBER THIS ALWAYS that we Masonry are solely and
inescapably responsible for to-morrow, the FUTURE FREEMASONRY.
It is doubtless that while a few do
not measure upto the required height a large number
are capable of appreciating the fine things and main
ning a high standard of integrity and morality, the
direct outcome of good Masonic Work in Lodges and their
personal research. This is irrefutable fact. If it had
not been so, Masonry would not have survive much less
flourished as now. Masonry must become known as the
v, epitome of Truth and Justice to the main in the street
from the example behaviour, helpful and self-sacrificing
nature and other noticeable lauding attributes of Masons.
Every attempt should made by the Senior
to interpret Masonry correct and well to the new candidate
who are welcomed into the Lodges, that they would well
and truly integrate themselves into the new society
order, surcharged with very noble outlook. Brethren,
this is a clarion c to every Mason to build for the
future even better a fraternity. Genuine quality must
be the basis of this new structure. Certainly this is
not reflection on the present quality. No, far from
that, it but it is only reminder that by our conduct
as men and Masons and through our won as Brethren of
the different Lodges, there must be a daily improvement.
Never be satisfied with our attainments but hunger for
greater and great improvement. This will flood our Lodges
with men of quality and zeal ensuring INDEED A GREAT
FUTURE FOR FREEMASONRY.
